Castaneda will Represent the USA Once Again in World Championships

Monday, April 5th, 2010

Troy Castaneda, 20 years old, from Sacramento, California will represent the U.S.A. for the second year in a row at the Rotax World Finals. This year the RWF will be held in Southern Italy at the La Conca circuit. This track has already been a home for the Rotax World Finals only 2 years ago.

The basic intention of the RMC Grand Finals is to apply the Olympic spirit to an international semi-professional kart racing series. Every year competitors from more than 50 countries, from five continents can qualify for the annual Grand Finals of the Rotax MAX Challenge.

More than 16,000 drivers from more than 55 nations compete all during the year for the right to be invited to compete in “Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals.” In total 216 drivers have the privilege in addition to them a total of over 1200 are expected including team managers, mechanics and assistants to try to win this celebrated World Finals.

Last December, Troy had the privilege to represent the U.S. in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt. Castaneda qualified 3rd in his group, the highest out of any American in the history of the World Finals. Unfortunately, some bad luck struck the Californian during the pre final and was relegated to last place on the grid, 34th position, for the main event. He would go on to put on a show demonstrating his determination, strength and pure talent as he finished the 24 lap final in 5th place.

This year Troy is looking to improve his results from last year. He is no stranger when it comes to Italy as he lived in the country in 2008 competing in the Italian Formula Master Championship. His knowledge of the Italian language will prove useful as he travels across the pond once again this November to compete in the 2010 Rotax World Finals.
